My Story

For the record, I was picking through trash piles after dark long before the likes of HGTV, American Pickers, or the “original” shabby chick, Rachel Ashwell. We got my school clothes at Goodwill and our living room furniture from the corner of 45th and Superior.

In 1985, my mother took me and my younger brother and left my father in the middle of the night with very little personal affects. In our new life, we had new needs. I learned to discreeetly cherry pick things others had discarded and find not only function in them, but even beauty and hopeful purpose. I learned early that a can of white house paint can stand in to make a family out of unrelated furniture and turn curbside castoffs into a teen girls’ Better Homes & Garden bedroom on a bologna and braunschweiger budget.

In 30 years, I have never stopped looking for things that look a little tired and sad. I like to play with garbage, as my well-meaning friends say. Well, here’s a place where we can all gather and appreciate the wings we have been given and the love that takes garbage to gorgeous.

Beautifully Reclaimed Furnishings

The very best, absolute favorite part of my job is the people I have the opportunity to serve. I love your stories and seeing how my furniture folds into your lives and homes.

Blessed to be able to do what my heart loves most.

And just like that! A little magic and a lot of love bring lovely back to life!

How Do You Say “Girasole”

& What Is It

Pronounced “jeer-uh-so-lay” – Italian for “turn towards the sun”
One day while living in Italy, I jumped out of my car and rand wildly through a field of Tuscan sunflowers, spinning and twirling in awe of the beauty all around me.

Girasole is freedom, happiness, and the warmth that comes from being truly content.
